Philosophy of the Wallkill Valley Swim Conference:
The Wallkill Valley Swim Conference is a summer recreational program that is committed to the development of the enjoyment of swimming while teaching responsibility, camaraderie, sportsmanship with respect for teammates and opponents, and establishing a positive attitude towards competition. Summer recreational swimming is defined as a program to encourage children to swim for self-improvement, to establish a team identity and philosophy, and to develop a love for a sport that could benefit them in the future. Coaches, parents and swimmers are to view competition with a positive attitude whether the team or individual is victorious or not. These are children and what we want them to gain from this summer recreational program is team spirit, self-worth, and a positive attitude about themselves, others and competition.

Frequently Asked Questions:
When does the season start/end?
The Swim season starts in late June and runs through the month of July.
What time are practices?
Practices are held by age group at the New Beach at Lake Stockholm. Practices are held daily (late morning to early afternoon, depending on age group), even on days of scheduled meets.
Does my child have to come to practice every day?
Practices on days of meets are mandatory in order to swim in the meet that evening – if your child cannot be at practice on a day of a meet, it must be discussed with the coach prior to that day. Your child must also attend a minimum of 3 practices a week. If you have a vacation scheduled during the month of July, you must notify the Coaches in writing.
Is parent participation required?
Yes, parent participation is required at both home and away meets, in order for them to run smoothly.
How do I register?
Registration takes place online beginning 5/15/22 at https://lake-stockholm-swim-team.siplay.com
We can accept registrations up through the first week of practice (note, a late fee of $35 will be required for all registrations received after the first week of practice).
We don't live in Lake Stockholm, can we still sign up for the team?
Non-lake residents are welcome to be a part of our team! An additional fee is collected from non-residents for insurance.
How old do you have to be to participate?
Swimmers must be between the ages of 3 and 18 as of July 1, to be eligible to participate in the team.
Does my child have to be a good swimmer/know how to swim to participate?
This is a recreation team, so it is all about having fun! If your child knows how to swim, they will be a regular member of the team and will participate in meets with swimmers of all ability levels. If they don't know how to swim, they will be a part of our Learn to Swim division with daily lessons. If the coach and the swimmer feel they are ready to swim in a meet before the end of the season, they will move into the regular team.
